The Seeds of Growth: How Indian Coffee Spread Across the                                                  Country


After Baba Budan planted the seven coffee seedlings in Karnataka, the plants thrived in the region's climate. The coffee industry slowly began to grow, and soon, the hills of Karnataka were dotted with lush green coffee plantations.



As the demand for coffee increased, farmers in other parts of India began to take notice. The climate and geography of other states proved to be ideal for coffee cultivation. Tamil Nadu emerged as a major coffee-growing region, with its rolling hills and misty valleys providing perfect conditions for coffee production.



Kerala's Coffee Story


In Kerala, Wayanad is a prominent coffee-growing region, known for its high-quality Arabica and Robusta coffee beans. The district's unique climate and geography make it an ideal location for coffee cultivation.


Coffee Spreads Across India


The demand for Indian coffee grew rapidly, with other states like Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and the North Eastern states also starting to cultivate coffee. The unique flavor profiles and characteristics of coffee from different regions began to gain recognition, both domestically and internationally.

The demand for Indian coffee increased significantly, driven by the growing popularity of specialty coffee and the increasing awareness of Indian coffee's unique flavor profiles. Today, Indian coffee is renowned for its distinct taste and aroma, with Arabica and Robusta being the two main varietie
s grown in the country.
